Tekwan is a fish soup typical of Palembang, Indonesia that made from a mixture of fish meat and tapioca, which is formed in the form of small spheres, and served in a typical shrimp sauce. Tekwan is usually equipped with vermicelli, sliced jikama and mushrooms, and sprinkled with sliced leek, celery, and fried onions.

Tekwan comes from the word "Berkotek Samo Kawan", which in Palembang means sitting and chatting with friends. So, tekwan is the "type" of food that eaten in a relaxed moment, like chatting with friends. Tekwan can be eaten directly without rice or with rice. Foreign tourists know tekwan as a fish cake or a small meatball with shrimp broth.
